At Apollo Basement Waterproofing Queens NY, our sump pump contractors naturally focus on all things sump pump. It’s just another great basement waterproofing solution we offer.
If you’re not entirely sure of what a sump pump is, that’s okay. We can help you out. A sump pump is of course a pump that removes water that has been collected in what we refer to as its sump pit. If your home currently has a sump pump, you will find it in your basement.
Now if your basement lacks a sump pump or your existing sump pump basement isn’t working correctly, this can be bad news. Malfunctioning sump pumps can lead to unwanted water entry in your basement and/or sump pump basement flooding.
At Apollo Basement Waterproofing Queens NY, our sump pump contractors offer the following sump pump services to our customers:
We currently offer two types of sump pumps to our customers: pedestal sump pumps and submersible sump pumps.
A pedestal sump pump is one that is mounted above the sump pit and is more visible and louder than a submersible sump pump.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, a submersible sump pump is completely contained inside the sump pit and thus is more attractive and makes less noise than a pedestal sump pump.
You can think of a sump pump as a reverse toilet tank. (And yes we realize that doesn’t sound pleasant but bear with us!) When the water level in your sump pit rises to a specific level, the leaver/float attached to the pump will activate and discharge the water outside via acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (APS) piping. APS piping is a plastic pipe that can be used for indoor or outdoor plumbing purposes. APS piping is generally used as a drain, waste, vent, or sewer pipe and as an electrical wire insulation.
There are different horsepower pumps for different sump pits. And yes we have those too! The bigger the sump pit, naturally the more horsepower a sump pump needs. In other words, the more powerful the sump pump, the faster the water will be discharged from the sump pit.
You may have heard about the latest innovation in sump pumps: battery powered backup sump pumps. This backup sump pump provides our customers with extra peace of mind with its ability for uninterrupted pumping in the event of power outage or main sump pump failure. Having a backup sump pump is extra assurance that your sump pit will not overflow and/or flood your basement.
